How do I get my information from FEMA into Emergency Reporting?

Exporting Your Incident Records

    1. Click the following link:
    2. Click the Web Based Tools tab.
    3. Click Bulk Export Utility (BEU) on the left side of the window.
    4. Click Begin Bulk Export Utility.
    5. On login screen, key in your User Name, State, and Password.

You must contact NFIRS if you do not have these items. ERSupport has no access to this information.

    1. Read and the Federal Legal Warning page and click Continue to acknowledge it.
    2. Click Begin BEU Incident Export.

    1. Click into data field for User Group/Fire Dept.

    1. Select your department from the pop-up window and click OK.
    2. Enter the date range to export.

We recommend one year at a time.

ER can only import data after 2002.

    1. Click Export Matching Fire Departments.

    1. Give this task a name, such as "Year 2010 Incident Export".

    1. Click Submit Export Task for Execution.

    1. The task status will change from
      • Submitted to
      • Executed to
      • Complete
      as FEMA prepares your export.

You will receive an email when the process is finished.

    1. When complete, the screen will tell you how many incidents were exported.
    2. Click the link below the message to download your file.

    1. Your browser will begin downloading the file to your computer. Follow the on-screen instructions.

  1. Repeat until you've exported all your data.

Exporting the Department Data File

To speed up your ER setup, we also recommend exporting your department data (or DEP) file. This file contains your department's apparatus, personnel, and station information. You may skip this step if you do not have a DEP file.

  1. Click the following link:
  2. Click Web Based Tools.
  3. Click Bulk Export Utility (BEU) on the left side of the screen
  4. Click Begin BIU Dept. Export on the left of the screen.
  5. Follow the instructions on screen.

Delivering Your Information to Emergency Reporting

  1. Please name your incident files with their date range and your department name. For example, a file might be named "Any City FD NFIRS 2012".
  2. Name the DEP file with your with your department name and the word "info". For example, "Any City FD Info".
  3. Send an email to with the following:
    • Your department's name (in the subject line).
    • Your state (in the subject line).
    • Your contact information (in the email body).
    • Your incident records (and DEP file, if applicable) as attachments.
