Using Hydrants, Part 1: Settings

The first step in using the Hydrants Module should be to set up the user-defined fields. This is done in the Settings. All Settings options are user-defined fields and are optional to suit your needs.

  1. Navigate to the Hydrants Module.
  2. Click on Settings on the menu bar.
  3. The first tab is where you can define your Districts. To add a new district, click on the Add New District button.
  4. An Add Record single field pop-up opens and allows you to enter your custom entry. Once entered click on the Submit button. This is the same style box that will appear when options are added to the other tabs.
  5. The second tab is Maint. Types where you can enter the maintenance types you wish to include. Just like Districts this is a single field entry.
  6. The third tab, Maint. Intervals, allows you to specify Maintenance Intervals which can be used to create automated work orders. By clicking on Add New Maintenance Interval you are presented with a pop-up window allowing you to enter information.
  7. The Add Record pop-up window requires you to chooseMaintenance Interval Name, Maintenance Type (defined in tab two), Interval Duration and Type, and Alert Days. These fields are defined below the Add New Maintenance Interval button on tab three.
  8. The Manufacturers and Models tab allows you to specify the Manufacturers of hydrants you have in your jurisdiction on the left side and the Models of those hydrants on the right side. To display the Models view, click on a Manufacturer name on the left side.
  9. The fifth tab allows you to specify the Ownerships of the hydrants in your jurisdiction.
  10. The sixth tab specifies the Service Responsibilities. This will most likely mirror the list of Ownerships with some additional options.
  11. The Statuses tab is where you can define options for Hydrant Status.
  12. The next tab allows you to specify the Types of hydrants which you have in your jurisdiction.
  13. The Zones tab allows for further geographical breakdown.
  14. The final tab, Imports, is where you go to import Hydrants or Flow Tests.
